Virgin Radio: “Letter to My Younger Queer Self”

Cyrill Ibrahim was recently featured on Virgin Radio Pride, where he read a moving letter to his younger queer self. The broadcast was part of the release of Letters to My Younger Queer Self, a new anthology edited by Daniel J. Harding and published by HarperCollins in July 2025. The book gathers inspiring and influential LGBTQIA+ voices, each sharing reflections of their personal journeys.

For Cyrill, the letter was both intimate and powerful, addressing the challenges of identity and belonging while celebrating the strength of authenticity. Reading it on Virgin Radio, alongside a diverse group of contributors, created a moment of shared recognition that resonated with many listeners.

The programme aired on Sunday 17 August at 7pm, and highlights can be found on Cyrill’s Instagram. His participation underscores his commitment to using his platform not only as a pianist but also as a cultural voice, affirming the importance of storytelling, empathy, and representation in music and beyond.
