Virgin Radio: “Letter to My Younger Queer Self”

On Virgin Radio Pride, I had the privilege of reading a personal letter to my younger queer self, as part of the newly released book Letters to My Younger Queer Self, edited by Daniel J. Harding. This project brings together inspiring and influential LGBTQIA+ voices, each reflecting on the journey of growing up queer, and offering messages of hope, courage, and authenticity.

For me, writing the letter was both vulnerable and cathartic—an opportunity to speak directly to the young person I once was, navigating music, identity, and belonging in a world that didn’t always understand. Sharing those words aloud on Virgin Radio, alongside other wonderful guests, created a powerful communal moment of empathy and recognition.

The recording aired on Sunday 17 August at 7pm, and clips can be found on Instagram. I hope this small contribution becomes part of a larger tapestry of voices affirming that our stories matter and that being true to ourselves is always worth it.
